Why frogs?

To that, I return with the question, ‘Why not?’ Perhaps some of the most fascinating creatures in our planet today are amphibians. From their striking appearance, unique/quirky behaviors, to their melodic calls and baffling scientific abilities, what is not to like? With today’s habitat loss, deforestation, and unknown diseases, we’re lucky that they are still around. The fact that we can observe them up close and enjoy them as guests in our homes is surely, and always will be, a blessing.

Let’s focus on Poison Dart Frogs.

… pictures speak MUCH louder than words. Visit my gallery and you’ll know what I’m talking about.

The Vivarium Display.

I can only compare this part of the hobby to that of the reef aquarium world - with all the colors of corals and gorgeous fish. This, in turn, would be the terrestrial version. The enclosures, or more appropriately, Vivariums, are literally alive and growing.

When you purchase a television, it’s often the High Definition samples of nature scenes that showcase the latest tech capabilities. And apart from sports, they’re usually colorful animals or foliage on display so you can see the richness of the colors. Well, the next best thing, in my opinion, is having the real thing in your living room, office, or basement. AND you get to interact with its inhabitants. How cool is that?!

The buzzword these days have been “BIOACTIVE” but in essence, it’s just another way of saying that it’s a self sustaining environment within a glass box - A Rainforest in a glass box!

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Please check out my blogs on information surrounding the frogs I currently keep, personal recommendations, proper husbandry methods, and how-to’s on making this an enjoyable hobby for years to come.
